Bring your friends and family to dance all evening long at the first Fandango Jarocho at Peralta Hacienda Historical Park. We are going to fill the Pavilion with festive music and zapateado on the tarima – bring your musical instruments, dancing shoes, beautiful poetry, and your voices ready to go!
The Fandango Jarocho is a musical celebration from Veracruz, Mexico, that involves the entire community and honors communal occasions including birthdays, weddings, a town's patron saint’s day, funerals, and more. The tarima is the center and heart of the fandango. It is a raised wooden platform with sound holes used as a percussive instrument where people dance son jarocho. Musicians, singers, and poets surround the tarima in this community jam session.
This is an outdoor event but we still are asking visitors to wear face masks and practice physical distancing when possible. We will have PPE for everybody!
