Docent Program
Friends of Peralta Hacienda Historical Park wants YOU! If you have
been looking for a worthwhile place to learn, teach, and meet new
people, consider joining our Public History Programs Department and
participating as a docent in elementary school field trip
activities.
The Park needs Field Trip Docents and Docent Recruiters. Field Trip
Docents play an important role in guiding students with fun,
hands-on field trip activities. The time commitment includes a
two-hour docent training kick-off to
learn about the field trip activities, plus time spent with field
trip classes as needed. A potential Field Trip Docent is a volunteer
who enjoys working with children and has an interest in California
history. Stipends are available for docents.
If
you are interested in these opportunities, please contact Wells
Twombly at
(510)532-9142 or wells@peraltahacienda.org.

Peralta Hacienda Historical
Park offers programs, exhibits, and educational activities that
bring to life the history of the Peralta Hacienda, the East Bay, and
California.
The park also provides a unique and valuable
resource for addressing the shortage of youth programs in the area,
and for overcoming the cultural and linguistic isolation and
segmentation within this diverse community. Programs bring the
neighborhood's ethnically diverse groups into closer communication,
helping to offset community-wide problems of alienation leading to
vandalism and other violent crimes.
You can help in this effort.
Our organization
relies on the contributions of individuals, corporations,
foundations, and government agencies. Without generous donors like
you, we would be unable to provide unique history, arts, and
educational programs to the youth and community.
When you
become a Friends donor, your tax-deductible gift helps us to:
- Create and provide
educational and arts programming that engages the youth of
Oakland and the East Bay in recovering and exploring the
multi-cultural heritage of the region.
- Complete the major
capital improvements of the Master Plan.
- Maintain the restored
1870 Antonio Peralta House and develop its historical exhibits.
- Expand the docent and
volunteer program.
- Ensure the long term
stewardship of the site.
Gifts can be made by check or
credit card.
Increase your donation dollars with company
matching programs. Contact your Human Resources department for more
information on how you can double or even triple your contribution.
Friends of Peralta Hacienda Historical
Park provides convenient and secure online giving through its
partnership with Network for Good.
